Discover Cashback Match Includes Capital One Offers
Here’s an interesting data point for anyone in their first year with a Discover it card, or anyone who want to apply.
Daniel shared screenshots in our Danny Deal Guru Facebook Group, showing that Discover appears to be matching cash back earned through Capital One Offers. That’s in addition to the normal rewards earned from card purchases.
The reader had recently used a Capital One Offers deal for Farmer’s Dog that paid $50 cash back. That $50 then showed up inside the Discover rewards activity as “Other cash back.”
That $50 lines up with the Farmer’s Dog offer payout, which suggests Discover is currently treating rewards earned through Capital One Offers as eligible for Cashback Match.
That would effectively turn a $50 Capital One Offers rebate into $100 in total value during the first year, assuming Discover matches it as shown.
Guru’s Wrap-Up
This is a pretty interesting find. Discover’s first-year Cashback Match is already one of the better features of the card, but if cash back from Capital One Offers is also getting matched, that makes those deals even better.
The Discover it card currently offers a $100 signup bonus, in addition to matching all cash back earned during the first year.
