American Express Green Card Becoming the “Classic Green Card”
Some American Express Green Card holders are noticing a new message in their online accounts stating that, effective August 20, 2026, the card will be renamed the “American Express® Classic Green Card.”
Amex says cardholders can continue using their existing cards and references updated benefits, but no major changes have been officially announced yet.
The addition of the word “Classic” makes you think that Amex may be preparing a refreshed Green Card product, potentially with updated benefits, earning rates. And if it follows recent refresh patterns, we should expect a higher annual fee and more coupons.
