$50 World Cup Tickets for NYC Residents
NYC Mayor’s Office is launching a special ticket lottery that will allow NYC residents to purchase 2026 FIFA World Cup tickets for just $50. The initiative aims to make the tournament more accessible after widespread criticism over soaring ticket prices and transportation costs for to this summer’s World Cup.
The lottery will open on May 25 at 10:00 AM ET and close on May 30 at 5:00 PM ET. Winners will be selected randomly and will be allowed to purchase up to two tickets each. Roughly 1,000 tickets total will be available through the program, with approximately 150 tickets allocated per match.
The discounted tickets will apply to all matches being played at MetLife Stadium during the tournament, except for the final. Eligible matches include:
- Brazil vs. Morocco — June 13
- France vs. Senegal — June 16
- Norway vs. Senegal — June 22
- Ecuador vs. Germany — June 25
- Panama vs. England — June 27
- Round of 32 match — June 30
- Round of 16 match — July 5
Tickets are located in the upper bowl of MetLife Stadium and will also include free round-trip bus transportation for NYC residents. The Mayor’s office will share more details later today.
The announcement comes amid growing backlash over FIFA’s dynamic pricing model for the 2026 World Cup. Ticket prices for matches in the New York/New Jersey area are in the hundreds or even thousands of dollars. Transportation plans have also come under fire after train fares to MetLife Stadium were initially announced at $150 round trip before later being cut in half.
If you’re not in NYC, then hopefully you have Verizon. They will be giving out tickets for free.
