Negative Changes to United MileagePlus Program
United Airlines revealed today upcoming changes to its MileagePlus loyalty program. The changes are all negative with upgrades going dynamic, and instant upgrades and the Excursionist Perk going away.
Check out the changes below:

Starting on November 24, 2025, United will no longer display the MileagePlus® Upgrade Award chart on the website. This likely means that going forward, upgrades will be priced dynamically based on demand.

Starting on August 21, 2025, United will no longer offer instant upgrades at the time of ticketing on Y, B, or M fares. As a Premier member, you’ll still get to enjoy Complimentary Premier Upgrades (CPU) when available, but instant upgrades will no longer be available.

United will no longer be offering the Excursionist Perk on award tickets starting on August 21, 2025. This only impacts new bookings and any changes made to existing bookings. The Excursionist Perk let you add a free one-way award within select multi-city trips between at least two award regions
