Rove Miles Loyalty Program Launches with 12 Airlines Transfer Partners

Update: You can use code DDG (enter code under payment info section at checkout) to get 10,000 bonus miles on first hotel booking of $500 or more through Rove Miles. This is a nice added bonus if you plan on trying it out. You also get 500 miles just for signing up. I don’t get anything from people using the promo code.

Rove Miles is a new loyalty program that bills itself as the first universal airline mile. This is a loyalty program that is not attached to a credit card issuer or specific airline, but they already have 12 transfer partners.

Ryan first alerted me to the new program (you can use his referral to sign up). For now you can earn miles through Rove Shopping portal, or by booking hotels and flights through Rove. You also get 500 miles when you sign up (my referral). Check out more details about this new program below.

Earning Rove Miles

Rove Miles makes travel accessible and rewarding for everyone. We’ve unified 12 major international loyalty programs into a single, universal currency that’s easy to earn (always on top of your existing credit card rewards) and simple to redeem:

  • Earn miles on over 7,000 merchants with Rove Shopping. You can currently get 3.2X miles for purchasing virtual Visa® Gift Card or Mastercard® Virtual Gift at giftcards.com.
  • Earn up to 34x miles on hotel bookings made through Rove, which can be earned instantly for non-refundable stays to cover your flight there or add extra free nights.
  • Earn 3x bonus miles on flights on top of the miles you get from the airline when booking through Rove.

The company says that soon, you’ll also earn Rove Miles from dining, in-store purchases, and transferring existing points in from partner programs.

As you can see in the image above, I searched for hotels in Cabos and you can earn up to 34X miles on your bookings. If you redeem points, you get a value of up to 2.34 cents per point, which is quite valuable. Looks like a great deal, and I’m not sure if it will last for long as these rates.

Update: Now through June 11, you can earn an improved referral bonus. You get 500 miles per referral plus 10% of the miles they earn for their first 6 months from shopping and cash travel bookings, up to 50,000 miles per referral. So if you plan to use Rove, you can invite your significant other and earn even more.

Rove’s Transfer Partners

Rove’s initial loyalty program partners are:

  • Air France-KLM Flying Blue
  • Air India Maharaja Club
  • Accor Live Limitless
  • Aeromexico Rewards
  • Cathay Pacific Asia Miles
  • Etihad Guest
  • Finnair Plus
  • Hainan Airlines Fortune Wings Club
  • Vietnam Airlines Lotusmiles
  • Qatar Airways Privilege Club
  • Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus
  • Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles

The current partnerships covering all three major airline alliances and Rove Miles says that more programs are coming soon. You will be able to use miles on unique travel experiences, such as events, festivals, private jet charters and more.

The Company says that your points become 2-3x more valuable compared to traditional credit card redemptions, even on hotels where high-value redemptions can be even harder to find. I’m not sure how true that is, but hopefully this become an actual loyalty program that is worth using.
